“When I was born, I had a full head of thick, black hair. A few months later, it all fell out and grew back cornsilk blonde.
It was as if my body knew my life would be easier if I was white-passing? (It wasn’t wrong!)
But it was like a part of me disappeared. ‘Out of sight. Out of mind…’”

In this one person show, Gaby Labotka explores the alienation and responsibilities of family, culture, and identity while being a "white person of color," specifically as a white Puerto Rican.

Death. Battery. Rogue. is an in-progress full-length, neon western exploring the power dynamics and challenges of art, commercialism, and gender.
This play was a runner-up for Babes with Blades’ Joining Sword and Pen competition and received developmental support through their Fighting Words Program.

In an effort to continue improving upon her craft and encouraging and challenging the work of the Chicago theatre community, Gaby occasionally reviews plays and writes pieces. Her work is currently featured in Rescripted, The Chicago Inclusion Project, and Chicago Theatre Now.
